IDEA Factory

The striking new E.A. Fernandez IDEA Factory is a dynamic facility where University of Maryland students and researchers can push the limits of 21st-century innovation and entrepreneurship. Made from laminated glass treated with dichroic film, the building’s windows create radiant color shifts through transmitted and reflected light.

Inspired by the building’s mission and unique windows, I developed a flexible, dynamic, and colorful identity that was applied across a variety of materials for the building dedication and grand opening. Event invitations and commemorative sketchbooks were printed with iridescent foil. To create a unique gift for founding donors, I collaborated with Lego artist Jason Burik to design a custom IDEA Factory Lego set.
